Strabismus surgery: beautiful event for Christmas

Written on December 6, 2006 – | by Lois (admin)

Three golden angels on starry backgroundMy second strabismus surgery is scheduled for Thursday December 7 (See update below.) I was a little surprised when a friend prayed for me a couple days ago “that the Angel of the Lord guides the surgeon’s hand and mind on that beautiful event.” Who would have ever thought of surgery as a beautiful event? Well, my friend did, and I’ve remembered his words often. I have felt peace from them.

After all, who would have imagined that the birth of a baby in a lowly stable would be such a beautiful event that the angels would sing of “Peace on earth, good will to men”? The world is not at peace. But the Christ of Christmas has given me peace, because whatever the outcome of my surgery, his plan for me is good. May you also find peace in the Christ of Christmas during this special season when we celebrate the beautiful event of his birth.

I’ll plan to post an update as soon as I can. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Update 12-7-07: My surgery has been postponed until January, but I am still expecting a beautiful event!

Featured Photo: I’ve chosen this as a featured photo to remind us that many people missed the beautiful event of a baby born in a lowly stable and the angels that announced his birth. I’m thankful for a friend who reminded me to watch for the beautiful event that is often hidden in the struggles and postponements of life.
