My eyes had been drifting a lot more prior to the surgery, and had become increasingly unstable and uncomfortable. It was difficult to hold a focus to read. My eyes are much more comfortable since the surgery, less tension, and I get a lot less headaches now. My eyes don't drift as spastically as before surgery. They still drift though, especially at close range. I still can't focus to read very long. My eyes look straight, but one eye sees things rotated slightly clockwise, the other slightly counter-clockwise since the surgery, and things appear higher with one eye than the other.... Continue reading →

My computer seemed to be continuously trying to connect to the net. If I managed to get connected it was only a short time before I was disconnected again. After switching cables around to confirm it was not a bad cable, I purchased a new router. My connection is better than ever now.

The little flashing icon reminded me of my eyes...

My Behavioral Optometrist has told me that our brain-eye connection is like a circuit that can sometimes loose connection. One of the goals of vision therapy is to repair the circuit.

So, I surmised, my inability to read very long must not be related to my eyes. After all, my glasses corrected my vision to 20/20. The problem must be my mind.

My family used to quickly steer me away from books when we were shopping. "Don't let Mom start looking at those books, or we'll be here all day!"

I had discarded my prism glasses while I was in nursing school. My Ophthalmologist said they would weaken my eye muscles by allowing the eyes to drift and still see. By forcing my eyes to focus without them, I'd be strengthening the eye muscles. Continue reading →
